For many years, I was successful in the corporate world. My career was established, my confidence was high, and I had a clear sense of direction. That all changed dramatically when I became a mother in 2014.
Returning from maternity leave was a complete shock. I was totally unprepared for how profoundly having a baby — and stepping away from work — would impact my career, not just in that moment but long-term. I was told I couldn’t return to my role unless I worked my full-time contract, and my maternity cover was unwilling to step aside from the position they had taken on. What followed were months of a painful and exhausting maternity discrimination battle with my employer.
At a time when I should have been enjoying precious moments bonding with my one-year-old — while pregnant with my second child — I was instead overwhelmed with stress and anxiety. The entire experience knocked my confidence massively. Speaking with other new mums later on, I realised how sadly familiar my story was. I wasn’t alone.
I desperately needed something that brought me pure joy — something that allowed me to escape the stress and rebuild my sense of self.
During that time, I was surrounded by new mums just like me. We were navigating early motherhood together: baby groups, messy play sessions, and sharing both the highs and the hard days of mummyhood. It was within this world that I first came across handcrafted silver fingerprint jewellery.
That was my lightbulb moment.
I realised that if I created a family business crafting personalised fingerprint jewellery, these lovely mums would be my customers — and more importantly, I understood exactly what they wanted and why. The decision felt natural and instinctive.
Highly sentimental jewellery for mums, just like me — pieces that help you feel close to your little ones even when you can’t physically be with them.
Creating personalised jewellery fills me with immense pride. It gave me my confidence back and continues to do so with every happy, loving family I meet along the way.
Six years on, we are a thriving family business based in a small village in Warsash, Hampshire. Every piece is handcrafted with care — from the very first pen-and-paper design to the final wrapping in soft tissue paper and placing it safely into its packaging.
I take great pleasure in creating every single piece, knowing just how much love, meaning, and memory it holds.
